Former UFC bantamweight fighter Louis Smolka didn’t take too kindly to UFC President Dana White’s spending habits. Dana seems to have made Louis angry because of the gift he chose to give YouTuber Kyle Forgeard.
In a video posted on Kyles’ twitter, he shows Dana gifting the Nelk channel co-founder $2,50,000. Dana has a friendly relationship with the Nelk boys, Kyle and Jesse. Dana even gave them all access passes to UFC 254, which was uploaded to YouTube. The YouTubers seemed to have maintained their agreeableness with Dana as he gave $2,50,000 to Kyle as a birthday present, however ,this move earned Dana quite a lot of hate on Twitter.
The prevailing sentiment behind most criticisms of Dana’s move is that he gave so much money to an individual who’s already rich while he only pays $20,000 to his fighters per fight. Ex-UFC fighter Louis took to Twitter claiming that the organisation had begun to lose its integrity. It’s obvious that he doesn’t like the move and he even asked when unions were to form within the organisation. While Dana is generous with the bonuses he gives out on his cards the base pay given to UFC fighters has been under scrutiny for quite a while which is continued with the recent backlash.

White is obviously allowed to spend his money however he sees fit, but with poor fighter pay being a controversial subject in the UFC, flaunting that wealth on social media certainly drew a negative reaction from most people. Here are some of the tweet’s reactions:
