Increasing your Party Troop Size Limit in Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord

To increase your party size limit and get a bigger army in Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord, you need to get to the max Clan tier and grow a masterful quartermaster.

When you enter the party menu and check the modifiers, you will see the three party size stats are:

  • Base size
  • Clan Tier Bonus
  • Quartermaster

The Base size of a party in Bannerlord is always going to be 20. If you just start the game with a Steward skill level 1 quartermaster and Clan tier 0, the maximum army size would be 20.

Clan Tier Bonus

The Clan tier bonus is the modifier that impacts army sizes in Bannerlord the most. Since clan tier increases are very common, changes are really fast in the early game and can make your party massive.

Here are the party troop size limit modifiers based on Clan tier bonuses:

So, by taking this table into consideration, Clan tier level increases will bring +25 troops per level. Most players don’t get over Clan tier 5, but the party troop limit size still increases in the higher tiers.

The best way to get renown and reach higher clan tiers is through battles. You can do this mainly by killing enemies yourself.

If you want a bigger army, make sure to grind battles and get to those higher tiers as fast as you can. Who knows, if you get to tier 4 fast, you can even start your own Bannerlord kingdom from scratch!

Quartermaster

There are many important positions in your party, and the quartermaster might be the best one out of the bunch.

The quartermaster does not only influence the party size limit, they also determine the wages and food consumption of the troops.

The quartermaster’s effects over the party are based solely on their Steward skill. Based on the level, the party size constantly increases.

Here is how the Steward skill increases the party size in relation to its level:

Getting to levels higher than 100 can be done very quickly and will get you from the start a nice +25 troops to your army.

Even if you had Clan tier 4, and a total of 120 party troops limit, with a high-level quartermaster you can increase your Bannerlord party size by more than 50%.

An end-game party with a Clan tier 5 and a quartermaster with Steward level 300 will have a party troop size limit of 220 troops. That is around half of a normal faction army.

People that have played Mount and Blade: Warband can also think of the Steward skill as the old Leadership skill, except it only works for the quartermaster and not for the party leader (unless they are the same person).

To increase the Steward skill with ease, make sure to have a lot of food of different types in your inventory. This will get you to a decent number in no time. Luckily, this method is not as hard as leveling up skills such as Medicine and Smithing.

That’s everything you need to know about how to increase the party/army troop size limit in Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord!
