Dont be afraid of trying out new weapons! I see a few people stick to only slashing or blunt weapons from beginning to end but you should really try and get good at most of them! Alternatively shields can be used to BASH your opponent to get a quik attack on them. Aiming for the

Tips for New Players

  • Clothes gives you some protection.
  • Keep the scythe from the first boss up to the three red dudes (the boss) and then take the one guys axe.
  • Don’t swing like a maniac left and right. Use your momentum and try to use footwork a lot.
  • Sharp weapons are deadly on flesh, stabby weapons stab hard too. every weapon is op when you use its advantages, I like to use barstools for distraction and fun factor.
  • You can throw stuff when you drop weapon in right time of the swing.
  • When you press R you can choose weapon with the left or right click that you have sheathed, good thing when you are in the fight and loose your current weapon and have more than 1 backup weapon.

  • Use you backup weapon in close encounter when using long range weapon like spear.

  • First boss cannot hurt you if he cannot hit you. Stay in almost a clinch distance to avoid his attacks, they are quite painful.
  • In close encounters you can always just grab a weapon from your enemy’s waist.
  • Take your attacks slow and move backwards (with shift too) when enemies are attacking you.
  • It’s all about strategy. Leg hits are the most useful stunning strategy to get enemies staggered or on the floor.
  • Lastly, master parrying! It will be hard, but trust me, learning to parry in this game is very very important.

Alternatively shields can be used to BASH your opponent to get a quik attack on them. Aiming for the side of head with a blunt weapon was always and is a good way in game to dispatch of your armoured enemy fairly quikly.

Spears

Their range is their weakness. (same with the scythe and hoe). When the spear is up bull rush them and strike them with your weapon, a good strike to anywhere around the chest is enough to put them down. Do not give them range and do NOT hesitate, this is where 90% of people die then bitch and moan in the threads. If you are close enough to them they will not be able to stab you and the worse they can do is slap you with their wood.

Weilding spears

Given it takes practice, but if you give your spear the distance it needs it will become a killing machine. Grab a spear and practice your alt thrust and get ready to impale willies.
