10 Chilly Treats You Need to Try at Walt Disney World

Meteorologists have spoken and all of them declare that central Florida is currently hotter than the surface of the sun. But as true blue fans, we cant let a little thing like sidewalks the temperature of the earths core keep us from visiting Walt Disney World.

Citrus Swirl

Meteorologists have spoken and all of them declare that central Florida is currently hotter than the surface of the sun. But as true blue fans, we can’t let a little thing like sidewalks the temperature of the earth’s core keep us from visiting Walt Disney World.

With that in mind, you’re going to need some special treats to help keep cool. Here are 10 we think you should check out.

LeFou’s Brew (Gaston’s Tavern – Magic Kingdom)

Say what you will about Gaston, but his buddy LeFou is responsible for one of the most delicious treats in all of Walt Disney World. It’s called LeFou’s Brew, and it’s only available at Gaston’s Tavern in Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom.

As described by the Disney Parks Blog, it’s a, “no-sugar-added frozen apple juice with a hint of toasted marshmallow, topped with all-natural passion fruit-mango foam.” It’s painfully delicious. You can get the standard version for $6.29 or, if you’re feeling fancy, you can spend $12.99 and get the souvenir stein. Once you’ve got the drink, spend some time admiring the theming in Gaston’s Tavern. He uses antlers in all of his decorating.

Dole Whip Sampler (Swirls on the Water – Disney Springs)

Dole Whips will factor heavily into this list, and as well they should. They’re one of the most delicious creations known to man. While you can’t improve on the classic pineapple dole whip, there are some mighty tasty variations.

One of the best ways to get a feel for the other types available is to get your hands on the Dole Whip Sampler from Swirls on the Water in Disney Springs. The current sampler includes Dole Whip Pineapple swirled with Vanilla Soft-serve and garnished with a Pineapple Wedge, Dole Whip Raspberry and Dole Whip Lemon garnished with a Raspberry, and Dole Whip Orange and Dole Whip Watermelon garnished with an orange slice.

It costs $7.49 and there’s enough to share. But I wouldn’t recommend it. Make those moochers get their own.

Night Blossom (Pongu Pongu – Animal Kingdom)

Pongu Pongu, located in Pandora – The World of Avatar in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, is home to some truly out-of-this-world treats. Get it? Out of this world?? Because…because you’re on the moon of Pandora…and it’s out of…you know what? Nevermind.

During the summer, it’s probably a bit too hot for a Pongu Lumpia, but fear not! You can cool down with a Night Blossom. This non-alcoholic beverage features layers of apple and desert pear limeade topped with boba balls.

It costs $6.29 and is the perfect drink to carry around as you explore Pandora’s gorgeous terrain.

Kakigōri (Kabuki Cafe – Epcot)

We’ve sung the praises of Epcot’s kakigōri before, and I’m sure we’ll do it again. It’s just that good. For those not familiar with the frozen treat, kakigōri is essentially the Japanese version of a snow cone or shave ice.

To give it a taste, you just need to stop by Kabuki Cafe in the Japan Pavilion of Epcot’s World Showcase. You can buy the treat in rainbow, strawberry, melon, tangerine, cherry, or blue raspberry flavors for $5.50. For an additional $1.50, you can get it with a sweet milk topping.

Pro tip: spend the extra $1.50. The sweet milk takes this dessert from great to absolutely unforgettable.

Blue Milk (Milk Stand – Hollywood Studios)

I’ve already made one terrible “out of this world” joke, so I guess I shouldn’t do it again. Our fearless leader and editor-in-chief Tim Foster has strictly forbidden me from loading my blog posts with too many puns. So, I’ll simply state that Blue Milk at the Milk Stand (located in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios) is a can’t-miss frozen concoction.

The drink is described as a “plant-based blend of coconut and rice milk with alluring fruity characteristics.” Not sure what that means? Me neither. Honestly, there’s no real way to describe Blue Milk without trying it for yourself.

The drink costs $8.49 unless you want to get it in the Bubo Wamba Family Farms collectible cup. Then you’ll be paying $13.49.

Citrus Swirl (Sunshine Tree Terrace – Magic Kingdom)

As popular as the Dole Whip is, there are legions of fans who are just as passionate about the Citrus Swirl from Sunshine Tree Terrace in the Adventureland area of the Magic Kingdom. In fact, I’m sure some have been yelling at their computer screens wondering when I would get to this particularly delicious soft-serve delight. Well, here it is, so you can settle down.

The Citrus Swirl is a blend of a frozen orange juice slushy and vanilla soft serve. If you’ve ever had an Orange Julius before, you probably have a pretty good idea of how a Citrus Swirl tastes. It costs $5.29 and is one of the most refreshing treats in all of Walt Disney World.

Simba Sunset (Tamu Tamu Refreshments – Animal Kingdom)

I promised that Dole Whips would play a major role in this list, and it’s a promise I intend to keep. So, allow me to introduce you to the Simba Sunset, a blend of Dole Whip Pineapple with Strawberry.

There’s nothing complicated or fancy about this. It’s just pure deliciousness in a cup. You’ll find it at Tamu Tamu refreshments in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and it’s currently priced at $5.99.

Shakin’ Jamaican (Tower of Terror Coffee Cart – Hollywood Studios)

In the sweltering heat, I wouldn’t normally recommend coffee, or anything caffeinated. But the Shakin’ Jamaican is iced coffee. Sure, the caffeine is still probably a bit ill-advised, but the drink is so good that you’ll want to ignore that fact.

There are actually a few different locations to get the Shakin’ Jamaican, as it is a product of Joffrey’s, but we recommended the Tower of Terror Coffee Cart. Especially if you’re one of those folks that don’t like being dropped from the top of an enormous tower over and over again. It’s a good way to pass the time while the crazy members of your party take a trip to the Twilight Zone.

The drink is described as, “a delicious island-inspired cold brew coffee with hints of caramel and vanilla, served over ice.” It costs $5.39. At least, if you can bring yourself to stop with just one.

Hei Hei Cone (Snack Shack – Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park)

A few weeks ago, we talked about some of our favorite things at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park. The Hei Hei Cone wasn’t on the list, but we promise it was a close runner-up. It also happens to be the final Dole Whip item on our list.

The cone, which is a blend of Dole Whip Pineapple with Strawberry Softserve, can be purchased at the Snack Shack for $5.99. It comes in a blue sugar cone and has a pair of candy eyes, along with a sour belt that makes up Hei Hei’s nose.

Macaron (L’Artisan des Glaces – Epcot)

What’s that you say? A macaron is a confection, not a frozen treat? Au contraire, my friend. You just haven’t tried the macarons from L’Artisan des Glaces in the France Pavilion of Epcot’s World Showcase.

That’s where you can find chocolate and/or seasonal macaron ice cream sandwiches. I’ll say that one more time so that it sinks in. Macaron. Ice Cream. Sandwich. They cost $7, which seems like a steal to take a little taste of heaven.
